New initiative shapes HK’s design future

24-04-2018

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery (CTF) and Chow Tai Fook Art Foundation co-launched a multi-purpose design incubation initiative called Loupe in April 2018, Hong Kong. It serves as a community for jewellery designers fostering a creative and collaborative culture between designers, artisans and the public through engagement and education.

Loupe is made up of five elements, namely residency, exhibition, boutique, education and teahouse.

Under the residency programme, designers-in-residence will receive mentorship from CTF, a free workspace, a chance to sell their jewellery at the venue, and marketing and promotion aid.

An exhibition space is provided for emerging artists to showcase their designs through jewellery or different art forms. The ongoing shows include ‘Chow Tai Fook x French Designers’ (from now on till 3 May 2018) and ‘Smog Free Jewellery by Daan Roosegaarde’ (from now on till 19 July 2018).

The Boutique displays and sells exclusive design products made by CTF in-house craftsmen, designers-in-residence and emerging jewellery designers.

In collaboration of renowned institutions, Loupe offers various educational programmes including seminars and workshops on a monthly basis.

The official opening ceremony was held on 19 April.
