Lucara unearths a 472 carat diamond

17-4-2018

Vancouver-based Lucara Diamond dug up a 472 carat ‘top light brown’ diamond, the third largest diamond discovered from its Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana.

“The 472 carat is the third largest diamond ever recovered from the mine and will be sold alongside other exceptional stones recovered since the beginning of the year as part of the first exceptional stone tender (EST) later in 2018,” said Lucara Diamond CEO Eira Thomas.

“Constellation”, the second largest diamond weighing 812.77 carats found at Karowe was sold for US$63 million in 2016. Lucara Diamond recovered 218 over 10.8 carats diamonds and four of them are over 100 carats in the first quarter.
