A night of dazzling blue and pink

Dubbed the most valuable pair of earrings ever sold at auction, ‘The Apollo and Artemis Diamonds’ was sold for CHF 57,118,750 (US$57,425,478) at Sotheby’s magnificent jewels and noble jewels auction on 16 May 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The rare earrings consist of ‘The Apollo Blue’, a pear-shaped fancy-vivid IF, type IIb blue diamond weighing 14.54 carats and ‘The Artemis Pink’, a 16-carat pear-shaped fancy intense VVS2 type IIa pink diamond. They fetched CHF 41,862,500 and CHF 15,256,250 respectively.

The sale broke an auction record for a fancy intense purplish pink diamond selling for CHF 13,175,000.

In total the auction achieved CHF 150,737,000 with over 90 percent lots sold.
