SSEF launches pearl necklace documenting equipment

The Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) released a pearl necklace documenting equipment PearlScan® on 21 March 2017 during Baselworld. According to SSEF, PearlScan® allows the user to count and measure the dimensions of large quantities of pearls on strands efficiently. Comprised of an A4 scanner, computer and proprietary software this tool offers the pearl industry a new way of documenting pearl necklaces.

Besides, the semi-automated system could also detect different strands, measure pearl diameter, calculate a roundness factor for every pearl, measure the length of each strand and generate a detailed scan report.

PearlScan® is being sold through SSEF's subsidiary SATT Gems SA and more information is available on its website: www.sattgems.com.
