London-based Gemfields plc announced the launch of the Gemfields Masterclass on ruby on 15 September 2016 during the on-going September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair in Wanchai.
Available in basic, fundamental and advanced levels, the Masterclass covers the formation, origin, history, qualities, treatments, classification, markets, manufacturing hubs, laboratories, and offers hands-on experiential skills to learners who can access to a very comprehensive master set of rubies compiled to date, said Gemfields. Stones of the master set were on display at the launch.
Dr Laurent Massi, a veteran gemmologist, gave a short lecture on rubies during the event, offering audience a preview of the Masterclass.
