Diamond, gem & pearl show opens with brisk performance

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), was kicked start on 3 March 2014 at the AsiaWorld-Expo by officiating guests including Gregory So, secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Fred Lam, executive director of HKTDC, Lawrence Ma, president of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China, and chairman of the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show organising committee, and Benedict Sin, chairman of HKTDC's Jewellery Advisory Committee and chairman of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA), etc.

The material-focused show houses 15 group pavilions including five organization pavilions namely the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), the Japan Pearl Exporters’ Association and the New York Diamond Dealers Club. National pavilions and gemstone dealers are mainly located in a connected construction of Hall 5, 7, 9 and 11. Heavy traffic was spotted at the pearl (Hall 10) and diamond (Hall 1 and 2) zones on the first day.

The day was closed by an entertaining cocktail reception highlighted by exciting lucky draws and scintillating new jewellery collections on catwalk.
