GIA Senior Executive Set to Retire

Senior vice president of institute and industry relations at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Anna Martin will leave her post on 31 December 2023, after nine years with the organisation, fourteen years on the GIA board and more than four decades as one of the most influential leaders in the gem and jewellery industry.

During her time with the institute, Martin expanded its relationship with industry leaders, including clients and stakeholders, and oversaw its beneficiation efforts.

Martin’s career in the industry spanned more than 40 years. Prior to her employment at the GIA, she was managing director at Standard Chartered Bank, where she was responsible for building a diamond and jewellery portfolio.

“Anna Martin helped build GIA’s capabilities as a global organisation, expanding our mission and helping to secure the institute’s future,” said Susan Jacques, CEO of GIA. “Her wisdom, experience and dedication to our mission enabled GIA to grow and remain relevant in the face of unprecedented challenges.”
