Basel fair cancelled again

16-11-2021

The next Baselworld, due to be held 30 March – 4 April 2022, will not take place as scheduled, said a recent statement from organiser MCH Group. This marks the third cancellation of the show in a row.

According to the official announcement, show organisers need more time for the launch of the new concept. The decision was made from the experience gained from the pop-up event at the Geneva Watch Days and the intensive discussions with manufacturers and retailers. The organiser also attributed the decision to cancel the fair to the lingering Covid-19 situation and the uncertainty among customers.

“An interdisciplinary team from the MCH Group will analyze the target segments and, in close exchange with manufacturers and retailers, make a deep dive into their marketing and transaction needs. We hope to come back to you soon with new and positive news about the future of Baselworld,” says the organiser.

Baselworld’s managing director Michel Loris-Melikoff will leave “and take on a new challenge”. He joined the fair since 2018. The show was rebranded as HourUniverse but later resumed its original name Baselworld in June this year. (Photo courtesy: Baselworld)
