CTF’s lab-grown line on trial

26-10-2021

Hong Kong-based retail giant Chow Tai Fook has launched a lab-grown diamond jewellery brand on a Chinese B2C site, according to a report from a Chinese online media early this month.

Bao Chuang Jia, a media platform under local jewellery entrepreneurial community ‘Bao Chuang Hui’ in China, said in a report dated 9 October 2021 on its WeChat official account that a new brand Cama was selling lab-grown diamond jewellery at Tmall. They discovered that the low-profiled brand shares the same ownership and spokesperson with Chow Tai Fook.

According to a Rapaport news dated 19 October, a spokesman for Chow Tai Fook confirmed that they owned Cama and that was a lab-grown diamond jewellery brand. The Hong Kong jeweller told JCK that they conduct research projects on emerging industry trends or technology to ensure the group stays ahead of the curve; and Cama is one of the “research projects”.
