UK’s Watchfinder rebrands to be genderless

17-6-2021

Britain's pre-owned watches giant Watchfinder & Co ditches gender classifications from its website and stores and categorises watches as small, medium or large instead.

“By removing the men’s and women’s categories from our business we are encouraging customers to explore and discover more watches, helping them find the right watch for them,” said its co-founder Matt Bowling in a statement and described categorizing a watch as either men’s or women’s is now both redundant, restrictive, and outdated.

The company noticed the trend of men’s watches getting smaller and women’s watches getting bigger, Rolex’s Lady Datejust and Pearlmaster have been made to 28mm from 26mm and 39mm from 29mm respectively. Yet, gender-neutral timepieces are embraced by celebrities, takes Kanye West as an example, he is regularly spotted wearing a small 22mm Cartier Crash.
