Sotheby’s watch sale sets records for PP’s specific references

Sotheby’s Hong Kong important watches autumn sale held on 9 October fetched a total of HK$124.3 million, setting world auction records for Patek Philippe’s specific references.

According to Tim Bourne, the auction house’s worldwide head of watches, the market demonstrated the desire for the highest quality timepieces and the sale has achieved many new auction benchmarks, such as Patek Philippe ref 5216R and 5213G which set new auction records for that particular models.

The top lot went to a PP platinum and diamond-set minute repeating perpetual calendar watch ref 5073P which was sold for HK$5.8 million. Another highlight was a pink gold minute repeating perpetual calendar tourbillon watch ref 5216R which achieved HK$5.4 million.
