Phillips HK sale realises HK$47M

15-07-2020

Phillips Hong Kong jewellery auction held last Wednesday fetched a total of HK$47 million or US$6 million, a 54-percent up over the previous year’s sale.

The hero lot went to an 18-karat white gold ring set with an exceptional step-cut 21.52-carat no-oil Colombian emerald flanked by two half-moon diamonds (photo 1) sold for nearly HK$9.2 million. A platinum Harry Winston ring with a rectangular step-cut 12.55-carat diamond (photo 2) realised nearly HK$8.8 million came as another highlight.

“The results prove that the market for top quality gemstones and signed jewels remains resilient, and the sale percentage by lot and value demonstrates our sustained and steady growth in the region,” jointly said Graeme Thompson, worldwide head of jewellery, and Terry Chu, head of jewellery, Asia. Besides, the auction saw a record number of online bidders from 20 countries or regions, a 163-percent growth when compared with last year. (Photo courtesy: Phillips)
