Gemfields offers saled coloured gemstones that applied Gübelin's Provenance Proof technologies offering an encrypted record of a gemstone’s journey as the stone delivers from mine to consumer.
High priced emeralds and rubies on the approaching Gemfields' end-year auctions will provide secured and complete blockchain records.
The move is a response to the increasing demand for detailed gemstone origin. Gemfields joined Gübelin’s Emerald Paternity Test in 2017 and introduced DNA particles that remain within an emerald’s fissures. The encrypted blockchain record allows traceability along every stage of the value chain and brings secured full transparency a step forward.
