HM7 now in platinum, red

26-06-2019

Swiss watchmaker MB&F has introduced the first platinum timepiece for its HM7 Aquapod series with a vividly crimson bezel, paying tribute to red deep-sea jellyfishes.

HM7 Aquapod Platinum Red features free floating numerical appendages and unprecedented transparency surrounding the 60-second flying tourbillon thanks to the clear sapphire balance bridge.

All components of the in-house movement of HM7, the winding rotor, mainspring barrel, hour and minutes indications and the flying tourbillon, are arranged vertically from bottom up and mounted around the central axis. Energy travels from the rotor at the bottom to the tourbillon at the very top through staggered gearing that allows mainspring torque to be transmitted from one level to the next.

Glowing as jellyfishes, HM7 Platinum Red is aglow with luminescence. Apart from the high-luminosity AGT ring surrounding the flying tourbillon, luminous material is found in the laser-engraved markings of the unidirectional rotating bezel and on the surface of the hour and minute numerals. These are untinted Super-LumiNova, which fluoresce white after exposure to light.

The new creation is made in a limited number of 25 pieces, each coming with three interchangeable straps (red, white and black) in aircraft-grade rubber. (Photo courtesy: MB&F)
