Gemological Institute of America (GIA) held its annual jewellery career fair early this month in New York for over 450 students, GIA alumni, job seekers and industry professionals who look to move into the gem and jewellery industry. GIA invited 23 career coaches to offer advices for the job seekers. 56 companies of the industry were at the fair to seek for positions ranging from staff gemologists to jewellery designers and buyers.
The fair started off with ‘Job Success in Today’s Market’. Professionals such as Hearts On Fire and Lisa Nik ‘s presidents and a recent GIA graduate provided insight and career experiences.
The fair holds annually for over the past 28 years and originally slated for late July. GIA will hold a similar fair in London on 5 April then in Carlsbad and California on 11 October.
