Christie’s Hong Kong magnificent jewels

Christie’s Hong Kong magnificent jewels auction held on 26 November 2019 realised a total of HK$396 million (US$50 million) with one fourth of the lots sold over their high estimates. An exquisite fei cui bead and spinel necklace (photo 1 ) claimed the top.

Sold for HK$73.6 million, the ‘Heavenly Harmony’ fei cui bead and spinel necklace consists 68 pieces of fei cui beads of approximately 15.9 to 12.3 mm with a clasp set with cushion-shaped and cabochon spinels. A superb Moussaieff platinum ring (photo 2) set with fancy vivid blue square emerald-cut diamond of 3.24 carat and seven oval brilliant-cut pink diamonds of 0.61 to 0.41 carats fetched HK$53.7 million. Another delight went to a pair of platinum earrings featuring four pear-shaped diamonds of from 17.62 to 2.01 carats and two brilliant-cut diamonds were sold for HK$31 million.
