Christie’s magnificent jewels sale in Geneva held on 15 November 2016 fetched a total of CHF96,860,750 (US$97,117,588). The top lot, sold for CHF18,127,500, was a fancy vivid pink VS2 pear-shaped diamond of 9.14-carats (photo), marking the second-highest price for a pink pear-shaped diamond sold at auction. A pair of pear-shaped D-colour, flawless diamond earrings of 52.55 and 50.47 carats by Boehmer et Bassenge achieved CHF17,567,500, a world auction record for a pair of earrings.
