IJK 2016 marks strong overseas presence

The 20th International Jewellery Kobe (IJK) ended on 13 May 2016 on a high note with a total of over 540 exhibitors and nearly 11,400 visitors, according to organiser Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd.

All these years IJK has evolved from a local event when it was launched in 1997 to “a true international jewellery trade show”. This year exhibitors were from 14 countries and regions including Italy, the United States, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, etc. The show also marked a strong presence of 1,300 overseas buyers mainly from mainland China, Korea, India, Taiwan and Thailand.

Recognised as the best-sourcing venue in western Japan, IJK 2016 consisted of four special zones for jewellery, pearls, gemstones and second-hand jewellery.

IJK 2016 presented a wide variety of nearly 600,000 quality and trendy exhibits. Offering cash-and-carry opportunities, the show highlighted innovative jewellery under three major design trends: ethnic, romantic and 70s revival.

The next IJK is scheduled for 17-19 May 2017.
