Hong Kong jeweller Chow Sang Sang recorded a 16-percent increase in group retail sales value for the second quarter ending 30 June 2026, driven by resilient demand for gold jewellery despite fluctuating global bullion prices.
According to the group’s key operational data, same-store sales rose 17 percent in mainland China and jumped 30 percent across Hong Kong and Macau.
In the Mainland, performance was supported by demand for calculated-price gold items amidst cautious consumer sentiment and macroeconomic headwinds. Key ranges, including the Cultural Blessing" and Noir collections, along with online sales and premium stores in major commercial hubs, recorded positive growth.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong and Macau delivered strong momentum. The region benefited from sustained local demand, steady contributions from community shopping centres, and increased customer footfall in tourist hot spots. Signature lines such as YuYu, Noir, and Charme saw expanding sales following new product launches.
Alongside operational growth, the group continued refining its retail network to boost store productivity and location quality. During the first half of the year, Chow Sang Sang closed a net 49 jewellery stores globally, bringing its network total to 776 as of 30 June. Selected new openings and store upgrades were focused on prime locations, including Chengdu SKP and Hangzhou Westlake 66. (Photo courtesy: Chow Sang Sang)
