The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has declared 8 April as “World Diamond Day”, inviting jewellers, designers and consumers worldwide to mark the occasion by sharing their stories of natural diamonds online.
Under the unifying theme “One day to celebrate natural diamonds, together”, the inaugural event seeks to foster solidarity within the industry and highlight the enduring human connections that diamonds represent. The initiative, originally conceived by the World Diamond Heritage Board, has now found a home under the leadership of NDC Chief Executive Amber Pepper.
Participants are encouraged to post images, videos, and reflections on social media, illustrating how natural diamonds celebrate life’s moments—from engagements and anniversaries to craftsmanship and community development. Posts should carry the hashtags #WorldDiamondDay and #NaturalDiamonds.
April was chosen because diamond is the month’s birthstone, while the number eight, symbolising infinity, reflects the gem’s timeless quality. “Now more than ever, the power of the natural diamond industry lies in its ability to come together with a unified voice,” said Pepper.
