The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) announced the winners of the 2025 AGTA Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards on Monday. The gem-set Element cocobolo wood bracelet and a suite of Colombian emeralds have been in the limelight by grabbing multiple awards. The number of new entrants and first-time winners came as the highlights of the competition.
The contest received a total number of over 300 entries, with more than 30 new entrants. According to AGTA, top jewellery and gems trends spotted from the entries are the return of tourmaline, a strong showing of sapphires and garnets, ocean themes, etc.
The Best of Show – Spectrum went to Somewhere in the Rainbow Gem and Jewelry Collection, in collaboration with Marc Höllmüller, for the 18-karat gold, platinum and cocobolo wood Elements bracelet set with a 14.16-carat pink tourmaline accented with peridot, spinel, demantoid garnet and diamonds. The jewellery also claimed first place in Business/ Day Wear (photo 1).
Somewhere in Rainbow Gem and Jewelry Collection also won first place in Cutting Edge Award in Carving in collaboration with Gabi Klein, first place in North American Mined Gemstones in collaboration with Brad Payne and lapidarist Jay Medici, and third place in Business/Day Wear in collaboration with Jutta Munsteiner and Phillip Munsteiner.
A suite of no-oil Colombian emeralds with a total of 12.91 carats from Oren Nhaissi of EMCO Gem, in collaboration with Yaron Nhaissi, won both Best of Show and first place in the Pairs & Suites category (photo 2).
