New York-based gemmological organisation Gemological Science International (GSI) has announced the opening of its newest laboratory in Bangkok, Thailand on 29 May 2025.
As the 14th laboratory in GSI’s global network, the new lab is located in the heart of Bangkok’s vibrant gem and jewellery district. The lab will serve both local and international clients, offering full access to GSI’s broad range of services, said GSI.
According to the GSI, the Bangkok facility provides comprehensive testing, analysis, and certification services across a wide array of product categories, including coloured gemstones, natural and lab-grown diamonds, finished jewellery, and pearls. The lab also specialises in the screening and detection of undisclosed lab-grown diamonds and simulants.
The launch of GSI Thailand marks a significant step forward in supporting the global coloured gemstone and jewellery supply chain, said GSI. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and staffed by a highly trained team of local gemmologists, ensuring consistent, science-based results backed by global standards of accuracy, reliability, and transparency — all while maintaining a personal approach to service.
