The silky soft side of Fabergé

07-11-2019

Fabergé, a fine jewellery brand under leading gem producer Gemfields, has recently entered into an artistic collaboration with Gary James McQueen, a 3D graphics expert who was head of menswear textiles of his late uncle’s eponymous brand, Alexander McQueen.

The result of the creative exchange is a limited edition of 100-percent silk scarves and pocket squares handmade in England set against the British designer’s moody black backdrop with Fabergé’s iconic motifs such as the clover and the ladybird. “The colourful and vibrant gemstones are dominated by an elaborate gold sculpture, in homage to Peter Carl Faberge’s early career,” says Fabergé.

“Fabergé has a rich history and of course it will always be linked to the lives and loves of the Romanov family,” says Sarah Fabergé who worked closely with McQueen to create a work of art that reflects Fabergé’s heritage and the creations made today. “Inviting Gary to explore his interpretation of Fabergé has resulted in wearable art. We named this work Chemin vers Fabergé (Way to Fabergé) because it tells our story, the past and the present.”

The scarf and pocket square are available to purchase exclusively at faberge.com with prices starting from £450 pounds for the scarf and £85 for the pocket square. (Photo courtesy: Fabergé)
