Christie's HK to auction most expensive jewellery

02-11-2017

The magnificent jewels autumn sale 2017 held by Christie’s Hong Kong is scheduled for 28 November. The leading lot goes to a pink diamond ring which is considered the most expensive jewellery ever offered at the auction house. A collection of 30 pieces of jewellery from the world-famous jewellery artist Wallace Chan serves as another big highlight. A media preview of the sale was held on 2 November with selected pieces modeled by local celebrity Eliza Sam.

The diamond ring set with the 14.93-carat fancy vivid pink VVS1 type IIA ‘The Pink Promise’ (photo 1) claims an estimate of HK$220 million – $320 million (US$2.8 million – $4.2 million).

The ‘Wallace Chan: The Beginning of a Genius’ collection showcases the jewellery artist’s designs made during his most innovative period of self-discovery in the late 20th century. “It is our honour to continue our long-standing relationship with Wallace, and we believe his classically romantic yet modern designs will undoubtedly capture the hearts of Asian and international jewellery collectors and connoisseurs,” said Vickie Sek, deputy chairman and director of jewellery Asia.

Well-loved by Asian buyers, top quality fei cui continues to hold a special place in the auction. A vivid emerald green natural fei cui bead necklace (photo 2), each about 14.7-15.9 mm, will be selling with an estimate of HK$56.8 million - $80 million. Another star of the sale is a diamond ring set with a 28.04-carat Sri Lankan padparadscha sapphire (photo 3).

The autumn sale also include significant vintage wristwatches from Patek Philippe, Rolex, Richard Mille, etc. A comprehensive assortment of rare bags and accessories from Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, etc, are expected to invite enthusiastic bidding.
