Thailand gears up for virtual 66th BGJF

11-06-2021

The 66th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) is scheduled for 22-24 June 2021 online. Yesterday show organiser Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, held a virtual press conference to update international journalists on the preparation of the show.

Presided over the conference, DITP deputy director general Nantapong Chiralerspong said the fair aims to create channels and opportunities for industry players to reach buyers and importers worldwide. “[It] helps entrepreneurs to 'defense, adapt, and find opportunities' under the crisis by modifying the format, that is, to provide marketing services to expedite exports in the New Normal era,” he said. That is one of the 14-point plans of the Ministry of Commerce according to the policy of Jurin Laksanawisit, deputy prime minister and minister of commerce,” he said.

The virtual platform will showcase more than 600 companies. It is expected that it will contribute to 450 online business matchings and generate around 500 million baht in turnover. Participation in the show and activities including seminars is free of charge.

The 65th BGJF was held online last year for the first time due to the pandemic.
