Traceable Greenland ruby at fingertips

26-4-2021

GemCloud now offers mine-to-market traceable rubies from Greenland Ruby’s mine in Aappaluttoq on its B2B e-marketplace Gemolith.

Totalling 154 rubies available, the smallest one weighs 0.11 carat and the largest one is a 3.35-carat brilliant cut ruby. They are all mined in Aappaluttoq and heat-treated. Each has different shades of red from pinkish to crimson. Greenland Ruby stated that some are thought to be 3 billion years old.

“Today, three out of five jewellery brands we speak with are asking to know the provenance of gemstones and to learn more about the story behind them,” said Veronica Favoroso, GemCloud’s CEO, in a statement. GemCloud said the platform is in response to jewellery designers’ demand to access gemstones from around the world only with one click and get live information about them. More traceable gemstones will be added in the coming months.
