Paul Klecka’s Matariki Rising South Sea pearl ring (photo 1) takes the top prize, president's trophy, at the 11th International Pearl Design Competition (IPDC), organised by the Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA) earlier this month.
There are 11 winners out of 66 submissions across eight categories, including a popularity award, in the United States division, and nine winning pieces out of 42 entries in the international division. Winning pieces of the international division are judged through images.
Both groups have their president’s trophy, the highest honour of the contest. Two designers, Brazilian Larissa Moraes and Indian Tanushree Lo, took home the highest honour in the international group.
15 winning pieces are off the shelf at Aaron Faber Gallery in Manhattan, the gallery co-owned by Patricia Faber, one of the six judges.
