GIA renews lab-grown diamond report

16-10-2020

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) introduces four online exclusive reports for lab-grown diamonds (LGDR), two for colourless or near-colourless and two for coloured diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds would be graded with same scale as GIA grading reports for natural diamonds. Details as below:

Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report includes 4Cs colour and clarity specifications, and plotted clarity and proportions diagrams for D-to-Z lab-grown diamonds 0.15 carats and above.

Laboratory-Grown Diamond Report - Dossier includes the 4Cs colour and clarity specifications and a proportions diagram for D-to-Z lab-grown diamonds 0.15 carats to 1.99 carats.

Laboratory-Grown Coloured Diamond Report includes the GIA colour and clarity specifications, and plotted clarity and proportions diagrams for coloured lab-grown diamonds 0.15 carats and above.

Laboratory-Grown Coloured Diamond Report – Colour Identification includes colour specifications for laboratory-grown coloured diamonds.

The report costs the same as natural diamond report, though has a differentiated design. Each carries a QR code linked to a destination page, which offers information on laboratory-grown diamonds and the differences between natural and lab-grown diamonds.
