Sep Bangkok fair to go online

29-06-2020

The 66th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) scheduled for 7-11 September at Impact’s Challenger will now be held online amidst the coronavirus pandemic, according to show organiser Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Thailand.

DITP said the show will take an adaptation strategy to go online for the first time in the 66th edition. “To welcome the New Normal, the fair is aimed to be a comprehensive online jewellery trade fair which will take place in September 7-11, 2020,” it said.

As one of the many examples of how the global jewellery industry work together in response to the pandemic, DITP has launched a #StayHomeStayShine campaign to donate cloth face masks to the people in need in Thailand.  The initiative invites Thais to post pictures or videos of themselves with their favourite jewellery via Facebook or personal Instagram to donate cloth masks to the Thai Red Cross for future use.

Almost all shows scheduled for 2020 have been postponed, cancelled or gone virtual under the threat of the global epidemic. In this month, two world’s important trade fairs were declared cancelled: the twin shows for August by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Vicenzaoro for September by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG).
