CIBJO releases guide for responsible trading

18-03-2019

The World Jewellery Conferderation (CIBJO) has recently published a simplified guide to the do’s and don’ts for sellers of diamonds, gemstones, corals, pearls and/or related artificial products.

Titled Ethically Responsible Trading in Diamonds, Coloured gemstones, Pearls & Corals – The Do’s and Don’ts, the guide lists out 13 to-dos and 12 not-to-dos in its English version, asserting the importance of delivering appropriate, accurate and clear information about the nature of the products, while avoiding ambiguous and misleading verbal or written descriptions. The guide also gives a concise explanation on natural diamonds, coloured gemstones and their synthetic counterparts, precious and common corals, natural and cultured pearls, treatment disclosures, and types of artificial products.

CIBJO says contents of the guide do not replace that in CIBJO Blue Books.
