The first India Jewellery Park inaugurates

The first India Jewellery Park, a project of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) inaugurated in Navi Mumbai last week, a year after the signing of MoU with the Maharashtra Government. The park is expected to commence in 2022. The area will occupy 21 acres of land that house manufacturing units, commercial areas, residential area for industrial workers and jewellery university.

 

Suresh Prabhu, union minister of the commerce & industry and civil aviation estimated that the project would achieve USD75 billion of exports by 2025 and create 90,000 job opportunities. He added, “Over 15 lakh people are currently working in this sector and with this jewellery park there will be a greater contribution to the economy from gems and jewellery.”
