Istanbul show saw a lift in international visitors

 49th Istanbul Jewelry Show organised by Informa Markets ran from 10 to 13 October 2019 at the CNR Expo in Istanbul saw a 12 percent jump in the number of international visitors, compared to the October edition in 2018. The show plays an important role in boosting the Turkish jewellery industry to achieve its exports target of US$6 billion.

 

Thanks to the international buyer delegation programme, which invited more than 1,000 buyers from Europe, the Middle East, the United States, North Africa and the Far East, the four-day fair attracted a total of 20,172 visitors from 127 countries and regions. According to the organiser, the number of international visitors increased by 164 percent for African countries, 41 percent for North American countries, 11 percent for Asian countries, 10 percent for Middle Eastern countries and eight percent for European countries. Sermin Cengiz, the founding partner of exhibition organiser UBM Rotaforte said “We broke a record by gathering over 50 thousand jewellery buyers at our exhibitions in March and October this year.” 

 

Over 800 companies and brands from 20 countries and regions exhibited at the fair with gold jewellery, diamond and silver jewellery sections housing the largest number of exhibitors. This edition relaunched a section named Designer Market showcased the jewellery pieces by emerging jewellery designers in Turkey. Among over 20 designers at the area, jewellery featuring one-line drawing of female contour pattern is a showstopper. The designer and sculptor Özlem Hiçyılmaz said the jewellery were all handcrafted and inspired by abstract paintings. Other sections including jewellery mounting, precious stone, pearl, chain and traditional mesh, etc.  

 

The 50th Istanbul Jewelry Show will take place from 19 to 22 March 2020 at CNR Expo. Winners of the JTR Jewellery Design Contest organised by the Jewellery Exporters' Association of Turkey (JTR) will be announced. One of the winning designers will be selected to participate in a master programme in Italy.
