Telling a life story

London-based Sarah Ho’s jewellery is all about love, from the Casino Collection paying tribute to her legendary grandfather to the Swirl Collection celebrating her mother’s vibrant lifestyle and the recent Full Circle Collection giving back to the world.

The celebrated designer established SHO Fine Jewellery in London in 2006. About five year ago she was brave enough to use her name as the brand name Sarah Ho London with the logo adapted from the Paradis earrings, an elegant and important creation from the designer.

From the graceful Paradis earrings to the amusing Wisteria cocktail ring, the linear Classics earrings or the abstract Vita Vitae ring, Sarah Ho’s designs evolve as she grows. “My jewellery reflects me so much as a person. They really are different chapters in my life,” she told Hong Kong Jewellery.

“I love using new ideas and techniques. To actually think out of the box is not easy, but we have to move with the time constantly as a designer. Design needs to enlighten people,” she underlines the importance of being innovative.

Apart from diamonds and precious stones, Sarah Ho chooses a wide selection of rare and vibrant gems such as conch pearl, pink opal, rubelite, tanzanite, etc. In the Full Circle Collection launched in May 2018, she introduces pearls from Dubai, tsavorites from Tanzania, sapphires from Madagascar, Paraiba tourmalines from Mozambique and spinels from Vietnam.

Sarah Ho tells Hong Kong Jewellery how the Full Circle project, partnered with Gem Forest and Suwaidi Pearls, completes the circle of life. “I always want to give back to the environment and community where the gemstones come from. This time I want to tell a story of gemstones, taking my clients on a journey from the origin of the gemstones to the finished jewellery. That is half of the circle. To close the circle, we want to donate the proceeds back to the local environment and community. That is where the full circle comes from.”

She said that the Full Circle is an ongoing project. She aspires to expand the circle by working with more suppliers.

Sarah Ho launches new collections regularly to keep her clients happy. “Whether it is a collection of high jewellery or a collection of fun jewellery like Wisteria, there is something new every year. We also do collaborations, including Kimberlite Diamond and Swarovski,” she said. (Photo courtesy: Sarah Ho London)
